Auction Data for January 2012

Essential Auction News

David Sandeman, Managing Director Welcome to the February newsletter that looks at auction activity in January and the rolling quarterly and yearly periods. Whilst January is a relatively quiet month in the auction calendar, it is pleasing to see a marked improvement in the percent sold - up to 74% from 64% in January 2011. The amount raised also increased by 26% to £31m, and one hopes that these improvements continue through 2012.

Kind regards

National Auction Analysis

With January being a quiet month in the auction industry it is perhaps more worthwhile viewing the quarterly and yearly figures to get a better indication of market trends. The residential sector saw increases across the board, with the volume of lots sold showing noticable gains - up 8.9% and 9.7% in the rolling quater and year respectively.

The commercial market statistics show double digit increases in both lots offered and lots sold in the rolling quarter, but the sale rate and amount raised dropped slightly.
