Essential Auction News

David Sandeman, Managing Director Welcome to the November newsletter that looks at property auctions held in October and preceding periods. The overall market remains steady, with lots offered, lots sold and percent sold all marginally down on October 2011, whilst total revenues increased by almost 8% to £383M (up from £355M last year).

The slight falls can be attributed to a major London residential auction house holding their usual autumn sale on the 1st November this year as opposed to holdng it in October last year, and one can expect next months newsletter to reflect this.

National Auction Analysis

The residential market actually fared very well when you consider the omission of a major London auction. The volume of lots offered increased 1% in October and by around 5% in the rolling quarterly and yearly periods, and although the montly sales and receipts decreased they were only very slight falls.

The commercial market saw a slight reduction in lots offered, however a sale rate of 73.1% improves on the 69.9% seen in October 2011 and the £186M raised is an increase of over 31% on last year.
