Essential Auction News

Welcome to the first newsletter of 2021 that looks back at auction activity in December 2020 and preceding periods. December saw the total number of lots offered and sold decline by 14% and 12% respectively. Overall the percent sold and amount raised both saw a slight improvement. The residential sector saw a 7.2% increase in amount raised to £329.9M.

A review of the commercial results in the three time periods we cover show that the 4th quarter was a difficult period for the sector, as were to a lesser extent, the month of December and whole year. Notwithstanding we are currently in lockdown, with the rapid roll out of the vaccine, let's hope that we can start to return to an increasing degree of normality within a couple of months and that as an industry we can start to make up some of the lost opportunities.

Please note the newsletter can also be viewed online.
