EIG host the Auctioneers Annual Industry Get Together
The Royal Thames Yacht Club
For this year's Auctioneers Lunch, EIG returned to The Royal Thames Yacht Club to celebrate the 21st annual gathering of Auctioneers from across the UK.
The RTYC is a stylish and tranquil setting in the heart of Knightsbridge with splendid views from the dining room onto Hyde Park where with good food and fine wine an enjoyable time was had by all.
Future Predictions
EIG Managing Director, David Sandeman and Director, David Leary both gave speeches where they outlined company plans and predictions for the future of the industry ...
As always, it was great to see both new and familiar faces in the auction community from all corners of the country. Whilst it may be a tough market currently there are signs that the future will offer an improved variety of options to sell property through the auction process, specifically online where I would predict ... in a years' time that 25% of all lots are being offered through an online process. The overall message of the day is the future is bright and the future is online!

A Highlight of the Social Calendar
The Auctioneer's Lunch is regarded by many as a highlight of the social calendar, every year it continues to live up to its reputation long after the event!
As a one of a kind event, the auctioneers enjoyed the opportunity to discuss the industry and swap stories with their peers.
David, Thank you again for a wonderful lunch on Friday. I missed last year so this was my first visit to RTYC – great venue and I thought the food was first class. David Leary drank all the wine on our table but I’m sure it was delicious.
If only every Friday could be like that, work would be so much more fun!
Please thank Robbie for the beard entertainment, it was great to catch up with Jade, Tom and of course Lord Leary.
Toby Limbrick - FNAVA Director, Network Auctions
Founded in 1775, the Royal Thames Yacht Club is the oldest continuously operating yacht club in the world as well as being the oldest royal yacht club.
The members participate in a wide range of racing and cruising events in home waters and worldwide, so with EIG Managing Director, David Sandeman a keen and accomplished sailor it seemed a perfect setting to celebrate.

The Most Important Document in the Legal Pack? The One That’s Missing.
Legal packs are often treated as the definitive source of truth in a property transaction. But in reality, they are anything but complete. While they provide essential information, they are built to meet minimum requirements - not to offer full transparency. And in many cases, it’s not what’s included that creates risk, but what’s missing.

Guide Prices: Why Buyers Should Treat Them as a Guide to the Reserve
Guide prices are one of the most misunderstood elements of the auction process. Too often, buyers treat them as an indication of a property’s value, when in reality they are designed to signal something entirely different, the likely reserve. In an increasingly competitive and dynamic auction market, understanding this distinction is critical to making informed decisions and avoiding costly assumptions.

There’s So Much More Than the Aroma of Hot Coffee…
There’s so much more to selling a property than creating the perfect first impression. While details like fresh coffee, open windows, and careful staging can help set the scene, today’s buyers are looking for something far more important - clarity, confidence, and certainty. And that doesn’t come from how a property feels, but from how well it’s prepared behind the scenes.
